Shakira’s “Session 53” Breaks The Record On Spotify

1 min read

The song from the recently released album “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” by Shakira and Bizarrap has shot to the top of Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart. Along with hitting the top, the viral collaboration broke the record for the most streaming by a track in Spain and Colombia by becoming the Latin song with the most streams in a single day in 2023.

“Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” has amassed over 15 million streams and has already overtaken other songs as the number-one track in Spanish-speaking countries like Argentina, Colombia, Chile, and Mexico. It also reached the top 10 in Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Malta with seven, five, and seven million streams, respectively (6).

The most recent song to go viral is “Session 53,” which is perceived as an empowering tune that is ideal for boosting one’s spirits after a breakup. The singer seems to be discussing her relationship with Gerard Piqué and the former athlete’s current girlfriend, Clara Chá, in the song’s lyrics.

Celebrities have reacted favorably to the song as well. There are several others, including Antonela Roccuzzo, Villano Antillano, Snow Tha Product, Paquita la del Barrio, Leslie Grace, Tiesto, and Denise Bidot.

Danna Paola also took to social media to support Shakira. “People always have a lot to say… in the end, music is the best tool to heal and express what you want,” she wrote, adding one of the song’s most reposted quotes. “And yes… women don’t cry anymore; women make money.”

After 11 years of marriage, Shakira and the former Spanish soccer star parted ways in 2022. After the breakup, the 45-year-old musician returned to the music scene with a power comparable to that of a volcano, dropping rocks left and right, including her most recent hits, “Te Felicito” and “Monotona.”

In this new song, Shakira doesn’t hold back, and social media can’t get enough of it. The use of language in Colombia is unapologetically a sign of empowerment, as seen by memes and the sharing of phrases.
