Rising R&B sensation Maeta has unveiled her latest project, When I Hear Your Name (Live), offering fans an intimate and captivating experience. Released on December 16, 2023, the seven-track compilation features live versions of songs from her earlier project, showcasing her vocal prowess and stage presence.
The live renditions on When I Hear Your Name (Live) were captured during Maeta’s tour across North America, the U.K., and Europe, providing a unique perspective on her music. Among the featured tracks are “Clarity” and “Control Freak,” featuring Ambré. The project concludes with a stellar performance of “Through The Night,” featuring Free Nationals.
The standout track, “Through The Night,” produced by Camper and co-written by Lucky Daye and Elijah Blake, has made waves on R&B radio and Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. As of the latest update, the song holds the No. 8 position on the latter chart, solidifying Maeta’s impact on the genre.
In celebration of the project’s release, Maeta has also dropped a stripped-down video for “Sexual,” featuring James Fauntleroy. The video offers a raw and authentic visual accompaniment to the soulful collaboration.
Maeta’s musical journey took a significant step forward with the release of her album When I Hear Your Name on June 9, 2023, via Roc Nation Records. The album comprises 13 tracks, including well-received songs like “S(EX)” and “Questions,” produced by Kaytranada. The accompanying official video for “Questions” added a visual dimension to the project.
Reflecting on her album, Maeta shared, “I want to show that love is complicated and it’s okay not to know why you feel the way you do. That’s one thing I’ve been trying to figure out. I think that we have to accept the fact that love is hard and complicated. And that’s what the project shows. I hope it comforts people who are going through that.”
Maeta actively promoted When I Hear Your Name through a tour spanning from August to November, further establishing her presence in the R&B scene.
In a recent collaboration, Maeta contributed to Chris Brown‘s 11:11 album, showcasing her versatility and expanding her reach within the industry.
