Australian melodic punk outfit Fake News are back with a dose of positivity in their new single “Moving On.” The track, which serves as the first taste of their upcoming EP Time & Place (due May 29th), blends classic punk rock nostalgia with a fresh, anthemic sound.
“Moving On” tackles the theme of overcoming adversity with a hopeful outlook. Lead vocalist Tim Russ explains, “‘Moving On’ is about those struggles in life that make us overthink and stress. The lyrics are a positive message, saying that after everything I’ve been through, I won’t let life beat me down. We all have burdens to carry, and this song is meant to inspire people to push through and keep moving forward.”

The Gold Coast five-piece has honed their craft by sharing the stage with punk legends like Lagwagon, Pennywise, Darko, and A Wilhelm Scream. Their rise to prominence began with the release of their 2021 debut album Everyday Warrior.
Everyday Warrior chronicled the ups and downs of modern life with relatable storytelling and raw emotion. Lead single “Checking In” and the boisterous anthem “Broken Bones” showcased the band’s ability to blend contemporary pop-punk influences with nods to the genre’s 90s golden age. This trend continued on their 2023 EP Take Me Away, further refining their infectious blend of urgent melody that has captivated alternative music fans across Australia and beyond.
