“Shay Lia” was born in France and raised in Djibouti, a small country in East Africa. She moved to Montreal in 2012 to study communication at the Université du Québec à Montréal. She is the daughter of Dileita Mohamed Dileita, the former Prime Minister of Djibouti.
“Shay Lia” started singing at a young age and posted videos of herself covering various songs on social media. She caught the attention of Kaytranada, who invited her to collaborate with him on his music. Since then, she has been working with him and other artists such as Buddy, BadBadNotGood and Stwo.
