TelevisaUnivision confirmed Monday morning that the 8th Latin American Music Awards would be held on Thursday, April 20 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The event will be carried live concurrently on Univision, UNIMS, and GalavisiĆ³n (beginning at 7 p.m. ET) for the first time since the awards premiered on Telemundo on October 8, 2015, and were hosted by Lucero. TelevisaUnivision purchased the rights from dick clark productions last September. Telemundo broadcast the 2022 Latin AMAs from Las Vegas, where Karol G made history as the first woman to win artist of the year.
The nominees will be revealed in a one-hour special broadcast on UNIMS on March 13 at 6 p.m. The Latin AMAs will be decided by fan vote, as is customary. In addition, two other specials will precede the awards gala: “Latin AMAs: VIP Pass” hosted by Clarissa Molina, which will present behind-the-scenes material, interviews, and musical performances from recent tours by Camilo, Christian Nodal, Grupo Firme, Ozuna, and TINI, and “Latin AMAs: Legacy” co-hosted by Migbelis Castellanos, Jose Figueroa, and Arana Lemus featuring JuliĆ”n Gil as a special guest.
This āwill celebrate some of the biggest icons in Latin music and excite fans with unique content and must-see musical performances,ā according to a statement from TelevisaUnivision. The former will air on March 7 at 7 p.m. ET, and the latter on April 4 at the same time. The “Noche de Estrellas” preparatory show may also be broadcast on Univision, UNIMS, and GalavisiĆ³n on the day of the awards presentation.
