From Indian Lakes Drops New Album and Lead Single “The Flow”

1 min read

Indie rock outfit From Indian Lakes announces the arrival of their upcoming album, Head Void, along with the release of the lead single “The Flow.” Recorded at frontman Vann’s newly established home studio near Yosemite National Park in California’s central valley, and mastered by acclaimed producer Will Yip, the album promises a fresh sonic journey for fans. Additionally, the band will hit the road this summer for their first tour since 2019, with a notable appearance at the Best Friends Forever Festival scheduled for October.

Regarding the creation of “The Flow,” Vann reflects on its inception during a jam session in New York City, where a synth riff sparked the song’s genesis. “At the time I was really into it, but couldn’t really shape and Vox melodies,” Vann shares. However, upon revisiting the track and layering guitars over the initial synth riff, the song evolved into one of his favorites in the From Indian Lakes repertoire.

While From Indian Lakes may have appeared dormant in recent years, Vann’s creative energy never waned. During the hiatus, he pursued solo endeavors under the moniker Joe Vann, exploring stripped-back compositions and intimate performances. Explaining the shift, Vann notes, “They felt like they didn’t want to be overly complicated, and it just felt like a good time to try something else.”

However, the allure of From Indian Lakes proved too strong to resist, prompting Vann’s return to the full-band format. Bolstered by newfound inspiration from his childhood surroundings and the completion of his personal home studio, Vann embarked on a sonic journey to craft a record that echoed the raw energy of his punk and hardcore roots. The result is Head Void, a testament to the band’s evolution and Vann’s growth as a songwriter.

The album encapsulates Vann’s artistic maturity, honed through years of exploration and experimentation. Drawing from his experiences as Joe Vann, he approaches From Indian Lakes with newfound clarity and purpose, delivering a collection of songs that blend introspective lyricism with dynamic musicality.

As From Indian Lakes prepares to embark on their upcoming tour, fans can anticipate an electrifying live experience that showcases the band’s evolution and the sonic landscape of Head Void. With each performance, From Indian Lakes promises to captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression.
