California-based pop sensation DINER is set to start off 2024 with a bang, following the success of her previous single “Goodbye to Someday,” which accumulated nearly a hundred thousand online plays. The Portland native, now making waves in Los Angeles, is thrilled to unveil her latest track, “Lasso The Moon,” produced by multi-platinum seller Kevin Bard (known for his work with Dan + Shay, Cody Simpson, Parmalee). This single marks the second release from DINER’s highly anticipated debut EP, scheduled for release later this year under the independent label Saint & Citizen Music.
Inspired by the iconic line from the timeless movie “It’s A Wonderful Life,” where George Bailey professes, “You want the moon? Just say the word, and I’ll throw a lasso around it, and bring it down here,” “Lasso The Moon” is a pop-country love anthem. DINER explores the depths of her feelings for her ‘prince charming,’ questioning their true sentiments, their ability to meet her desires, and whether they can provide the world she deserves.
Writing “Lasso The Moon” was a scary vulnerable place to be in, but the song was so easy to write. I write music to escape, and this song is two minutes of escapism into a positive love song
DINER
Raised in Portland and now thriving in the bustling music scene of Los Angeles, DINER embraces her Oregon roots and diverse musical background. From a young age, she honed her performance skills by singing for patrons at her family’s diner, a unique upbringing that significantly shaped her as both a woman and an artist. Reflecting on her journey, DINER shares, “I used to hide that I was the local diner girl, but I’ve found the beauty in it. I was raised by a community that knew me before I could ever see over the counter that have been instrumental to my growth.”
The influence of her family’s musical legacy, particularly her mother Helen, who formed a band in the ’80s and shared the stage with iconic bands like Black Flag, has left an indelible mark on DINER. This rich heritage fuels her commitment to creating music that resonates with authenticity and timelessness.
DINER drew inspiration from the rock sounds of Queen and No Doubt, and the soulful voices of Jennifer Hudson and Christina Aguilera. The singer blends pop, country, rock, and folk into a youthful yet timeless musical experience.
Music has always been my escape. It has given me the ability to take from my present reality and dream up my favorite scenarios. This is the magical feeling I want to evoke in others through my music
