Josh Levi, the emerging artist signed to Raedio/Atlantic Records, is bringing festive cheer with his rendition of “Let It Snow.” Originally composed by Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men and Brian McKnight, Levi’s cover not only aims to captivate traditionalists who hold the original version dear but also serves as a heartfelt tribute to the person who introduced him to the holiday classic.
In an interview, Levi shared the personal significance of “Let It Snow,” stating, “āLet It Snowā was my dadās favorite growing up, and this version went platinum in my household. He used to always put the Black versions of Christmas songs on, and now I can appreciate and be grateful that he did. Boyz II Men also happens to be my favorite group ever.ā
Originally released in 1993, the soulful track was a chart-topping hit for Boyz II Men, featured on their 2x platinum holiday album, “Christmas Interpretations.” It secured a spot in the top 10 on the R&B charts and claimed the No. 32 position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Josh Levi’s rendition of “Let It Snow” follows his viral TikTok Halloween performance as Chuck E. Cheese, featuring audio from his recent track “Birthday Dance.” The song has garnered significant attention on the platform, with nearly 10,000 videos created using it.
“Birthday Dance” is part of Levi’s extended play, “DISC TWO (SCRATCHED UP),” released in 2022. The EP includes additional tracks like “EGO” and “See Low.” Levi had plans to take the EP on tour this fall but had to postpone due to an unforeseen opportunity. New tour dates are yet to be announced.
