This narrative takes a new turn with Muna’s recent collaboration on Holly Humberstone‘s track, “Into Your Room,” released on December 1. The revamped song introduces a fresh perspective, with Muna’s Katie Gavin delivering compelling lyrics like, “I’m throwing stones at your window, to get you to notice me. Don’t make me stand outside in the pouring rain, with a freshly ripped human heart from my ribcage and a boom-box. How pathetic, babe.”
The collaboration traces its roots back to November 10, 2021, when Muna expressed admiration for Humberstone’s writing on Twitter. Fans eagerly anticipated a collaboration, and on November 27, Muna responded to a two-year-old request for a joint project. Holly Humberstone even shared a January 2022 Instagram DM exchange confirming the collaboration.
Upon listening to ‘Into Your Room,’ the synergy between Humberstone and Muna is evident, making the two-year wait worthwhile. Humberstone expressed her excitement, stating, ‘I’m obsessed with Muna and have been wanting to work with them for ages. I’m so thankful that I finally get to have them bring their magic to one of my songs.’
Muna reciprocated the enthusiasm, praising Holly’s talent and expressing joy at putting their spin on ‘Into Your Room.’ The band acknowledged their appreciation for the producers, Ethan Gruska and Rob Millton.
After an extensive 2023 tour, including headlining the Life’s So Fun Tour and opening for Taylor Swift‘s The Eras Tour, Muna enjoys a well-deserved break. Meanwhile, Humberstone gears up for her first-ever headlining North American tour in May 2024, supporting her debut album, Paint My Bedroom Black.
