1 min read

Renowned singer, songwriter, and producer Maxwell has recently teased his upcoming sixth studio album, blacksummers’NIGHT, through a social media post. This album serves as the final installment of a trilogy that began back in 2009.

In a tweet featuring a photo of a half moon with a glowing light underneath, Maxwell playfully hints at the ongoing process of creating the music, stating, “That_NIGHT music takes time; she dressing.”

After parting ways with his long-time label, Columbia Records, in November 2021, Maxwell joined forces with BMG under his Musze imprint to release blacksummers’NIGHT.

As part of this new collaboration, Maxwell released the soulful track “Off,” which quickly soared to the top of Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, securing its place as his eighth chart-topper on the list.

Prior to “Off,” Maxwell introduced the album’s lead single, “Shame,” in October 2019. This mid-tempo track achieved success on the Adult R&B chart, reaching the No. 8 spot and spending a total of 20 weeks on the chart.

While it remains unclear whether “Off” or “Shame” will be included in the official tracklist for blacksummers’NIGHT, fans are eagerly anticipating the album’s release.

Apart from his musical endeavors, Maxwell has been actively connecting with his fans through various tours and performances. One of his exciting projects is NIGHT, The Trilogy Show, a three-night residency in Las Vegas scheduled to start on August 9 at the Encore Theater in Wynn Las Vegas.

In September, Maxwell will make a special appearance alongside Mariah Carey at the Hip Hop Forever concert, where Mary J. Blige and Tyrese will headline.

Later in the fall, Maxwell will return to The Kennedy Center for a four-night symphony show from October 11 to 14 in Washington, D.C.

In addition to these performances, Maxwell has recently announced his inaugural four-night cruise, Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite Cruise, scheduled to set sail from February 10 to February 14, 2024, on the Norwegian Pearl.
