Mexican pop star Cristian Castro has surprised his fans by releasing a heavy metal version of his signature hit, “Lloviendo Estrellas”. The new version features Argentinian metal band Asspera, who are known for their dark humor in music. Castro had originally released the song on his 2001 album “Azul” and the song peaked at No. 13 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart in 2002.
In the new version, Castro’s vocals soar just as they did in the original song, and he seamlessly holds his own against the electrifying rock sound of Asspera. The accompanying music video shows Castro donning a leather jacket and guyliner, headbanging alongside the band and partying in a trashed house.
While Castro is primarily known for his Latin pop sound, he has never limited himself when it comes to musical exploration. In fact, in 2021 he was spotted at one of BTS’ Permission to Dance concerts in Inglewood, CA. The pop star even posted a photo of himself doing a thumbs-up in front of a monitor featuring one of the members of the K-pop group, raising speculation about a potential collaboration in the future.
The heavy metal version of “Lloviendo Estrellas” has given a refreshing new perspective to the classic hit, and fans are excited to see what other musical surprises Castro has in store. It’s yet to be seen whether Asspera will cover more of his music, but the collaboration has certainly opened up new possibilities for the Mexican star.
