While we wait for Taylor Swift’s next album re-recording, we may join her in celebrating yet another milestone. Taylor’s music video for “Blank Space” reached 3 billion views on YouTube on July 18.
“Blank Space,” the second song from Swift’s smash 1989 album, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2014. With seven weeks at the top of the charts, “Blank Space” is the 11-time Grammy winner’s longest-running No. 1 song. The song was also nominated for three Grammy Awards, including record of the year, song of the year, and best pop solo performance.
Though “Black Space” received no nominations, the matching album 1989 won album of the year as well as the best pop vocal album at the 2016 award.
Meanwhile, the music video for “Blank Space,” directed by Joseph Kahn, won best female video and best pop video at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. “Blank Space” joins “Shake It Off” as the second 1989 video to surpass 3 billion views on YouTube; the two clips are Swift’s most-watched music videos.
