Halsey said in a TikTok video that they “deserve better” after accusing Astralwerks of forcing them to “fake a viral moment” in order to release their new song. Check out what the singer had to say.

Halsey is unafraid to speak openly about the music industry.

On May 22, the “Without Me” singer blasted their record label, Astralwerks, for allegedly refusing to let them release new music. “Basically, I have a song that I love that I want to release as soon as possible,” Halsey wrote on the 29-second video, “but my record label won’t let me.”

According to Halsey, they’ve “been in this industry for 8 years” and “sold over 165 million records.” Yet they said, Astralwerksā€”Capitol Records’ electronic music subsidiaryā€”said “I can’t release it unless they can fake a viral moment on tiktok.”

“Everything is marketing and they are doing this to basically every artist these days. I just wanna release music, man. and I deserve better tbh. I’m tired,ā€ they added.
