It was “About Damn Time” Lizzo showed up to fashion’s biggest night on Monday in her best baroness look, fitting in with the Gilded Glamour outfits for the evening’s official theme, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, as viewers waited for their favorite musicians to ascend the Met Gala steps.
The three-time Grammy winner wore a two-piece Thom Browne ensemble consisting of a black corset dress with exaggerated hip dips and a gorgeous black cape embellished with gold flower embroidery throughout on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Lizzo completed her ensemble with Lorraine West gold jewelry and an equally golden flute.
Lizzo presented photographers with the best sounds her golden flute had to give while on the carpet. Despite being a classically trained flutist, she revealed on Instagram that she wanted to show off all of her abilities but toned it down a bit. “Y’all I was gonna play Debussy but I got nervous,” she revealed on Instagram, captioning a short video of her playing scales on the instrument.
