James Corden on Life After ‘The Late Late Show,’ and Saying Goodbye to His Staff

After departing “The Late Late Show” in 2023, James Corden isn’t sure what he’ll do next, but the trained theater actor told Variety senior culture and events editor Marc Malkin on the red carpet of the 2022 Met Gala that he’s not opposed to returning to his origins.

“Well, I’d love that, it’d be amazing,” Corden remarked when asked whether he’d consider returning to Broadway.

In 2006, he performed in “History Boys,” and in 2011, he appeared in “One Man, Two Guvnors,” both on Broadway. He’s also acted and sang in a number of film musicals, including “Cinderella” (2021) and “Into The Woods” (2014), as well as in his own show in New York.

“It’s going to be hard the whole way,” Corden told Variety. “It will be a year of tears, for sure.”
