Montreal-based artist and trance expert TDJ has teamed up with Belgium’s avant-garde dance music duo ascendant vierge for their new single, “Illusion”. The release is accompanied by a music video directed by C’estainsi, which explores the theme of being trapped in a dream, both literally and figuratively.
In the dance music scene, TDJ stands out for her unique sound that blends melancholy with bittersweet euphoria. Recognized by Pitchfork, Beatportal, DJ Mag, and Wonderland, Geneviève Ryan-Martel, known as TDJ, merges years of guitar ballad composition with electronic production. Influenced by the energetic rush of trance and the raw emotion of emo, she constantly pushes creative boundaries, evident in her SPF INFINI series, a mix of DJ sets and music videos. Currently on her Trance Detente Jazz world tour, TDJ is set to perform at Boiler Room in New York City, alongside artists like Rico Nasty, VTSS, and MCR-T.
Ascendant vierge, comprising lyrical goth-pop singer Mathilde Fernandez and DJ/producer Paul Seul, co-founder of Casual Gabberz, continues to innovate in music. Their sound combines pop elements with frenetic rhythms and apocalyptic lyrics addressing contemporary issues and promoting unity. Their debut album, “Une Nouvelle Chance”, praised by Le Monde, Libération, and Numero, led to a 60-stop tour, including performances at Boiler Room, Primavera Sound, and Berghain.
