Pop legend Madonna closed the curtain on her epic Celebration Tour in dazzling fashion, transforming Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Copacabana Beach into a vibrant dance floor for a free concert on May 4th.
Anitta, a Brazilian superstar in her own right, joined Madonna onstage during “Vogue,” the final guest judge in a string of celebrities participating throughout the tour. Ricky Martin in Miami and Salma Hayek in Mexico City previously took part in this playful segment.
Anitta commemorated the momentous occasion on Instagram, sharing photos and expressing her gratitude. “A historic night for Rio! Over a million people witnessed Madonna’s grand finale at Copacabana,” she wrote. “An unforgettable experience. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of this celebration of freedom and unity.”
Adding another layer of local flair, drag queen and singer Pabllo Vittar brought the energy with a rousing, samba-infused rendition of “Music” alongside Madonna. Brazilian flags waved amidst a sea of dancing bodies, with a group of children adding a percussive flourish on drums.
Vittar echoed the sentiment on Instagram, simply declaring “TE AMO Madonna” (I love you Madonna), while the Queen of Pop herself shared a video clip with the caption “Blame it on Rio 🇧🇷 Thank You Brazil!!”
This historic free concert, sponsored by Itaú Bank, was also broadcasted live on TV Globo, marking the final chapter of the wildly successful Celebration Tour. Projected to gross over $225 million upon completion, the tour kicked off in London last October before captivating audiences across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico City.
