DIXSON Drops Sensual Single “Friends” to Kickstart a New Musical Era

1 min read

Grammy and Oscar-nominated artist DIXSON is back with his latest single, “Friends,” produced by Camper and co-written by DIXSON, TA Thomas, and Terrell ā€œTreā€ Roper. The velvety track marks DIXSON’s first release of 2023 and sets the tone for a new era following his 2022 project, 004DAISY, which featured collaborations with artists like Sevyn Streeter and Tinashe.

In the chorus, DIXSON croons, “You and your friends / Me and my friends / We can make plans for the night / Got a couple bands / Need a Superman / Iā€™ll be your kryptonite / Ass so cheeky / Watch it like TV / Bite it, Iā€™m greedy.”

DIXSON, known for his unique sound and artistic vision, described 004DAISY as his “own version of freedom” and a response to the attempts to box him into a specific genre. He stated, “If you let them, they will box you in. This is me boxing back. Round 1. Punching mediocre square in the jaw. My drive is expanding. From Godā€™s ears to yours. Enjoy.”

The artist, who released his debut EP, DARLING, in February 2021, gained significant recognition when he produced and co-wrote BeyoncĆ©‘s “Be Alive” for the King Richard soundtrack. The song earned nominations for Best Original Song at both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards.

DIXSON’s continuous success and ability to push creative boundaries are evident in “Friends,” a song that adds another layer to his evolving musical journey.
