Anitta Shares A Very Important Detail About Her Upcoming Musical Project

1 min read

To say that Anitta has had an amazing 2022 would be an understatement. The Brazilian star blew people’s minds with her releases, winning multiple awards, including her first MTV VMAs award. She was also recognized as the Best Artist in the Global Latin Category.

Now that the Brazilian has paved her way ļ»æand conquered the North American market as an “emerging” artist, despite working in the industry for twelve years, she feels confident enough to re-explore a sound she holds dear to her heart. It seems that the singer is already working on a new album with a 100% Brazilian sound, Brazilian funk to be exact.

After the trilingual project Versions of Me, that embraces different genre elements like Hip Hop with Missy Elliot, Reggaeton with Maluma, and Trap with Maffio, Anitta wants to focus on a totally different musical genre.

In a recent interview with Billboard, she also confessed how surprised she was when she heard her name among the nominees for the Grammy Awards, “It was totally unexpected. [When I found out about the candidacy] I was presenting the 2022 Latin Grammys in Las Vegas, so it was very special, incredible.”

Speaking of her success in the American market, Anitta says, ā€œ I don’t think I’m a new artist, because in Brazil I’ve been working for 12 years, but here in America I’m just starting. It’s very different and very difficult for me to reach this other level and jump into this totally new market, so yes I am an emerging artist.ā€
She also reminds the public that “The last time a Brazilian artist was there – in the same position I’m in now – was 56 years ago. It’s been a long time since Tom Jobim and Astrud Gilberto were nominated with The Girl from Ipanemaā€¦ā€
