Puerto Rican reggaetonero Don Omar comes together with Akon for the unexpected bilingual single “Good Girl,” which is a fusion of Merengue, urban reggae rhythms, and electronic sounds. This is the second time the two idols join forces, following their iconic remix of “Danza Kuduro” in 2012.
“Good Girl” arrives with a clip starring Don Omar and Akon, burning up the heat with their dance moves. Directed by Carlos Perez and filmed in Miami, the visuals follow the story of a ballerina who works as a part-time exotic dancer. Throughout the video, the young woman reveals her “bad” side and “good” side. By the end, she’s seen sitting with a pile of cash daydreaming about a better future.
Both singers add their own unique style to “Good Girl.” Akon takes the lead with the first verse, “I like it better when she tease me up/ Don’t trust it when it’s too easy (oh no)/ You say you love me, then don’t leave me (oh)/ No time for gangs ‘cause I’m grown/ And she’s a good girl caught up in a bad world (ooh yeah)/ And if you ask her/ She’ll say the same thing (say the same thing).” Don Omar adds a Latin touch singing, “I don’t know what it is about her, but she wakes something up in me… Her body is a temptation and my curse.”
Speaking of his collab with Akon, Omar confesses, “I am more than grateful to have collaborated with Akon. I have always been a fan of his music and style. Although we come from very different cultures, music can break those barriers.”
“I am living one of the most creative and productive stages of my career. After taking a break, I am making the music I want and with figures I always wanted to collaborate with. For that and much more, I am blessed.” says the Puerto Rican.
